Heinz von Hermann has spent most of his musical life abroad (Germany, France, Holland, Spain, Morocco, Libya, Italy) and through decades of travel and experience he has been able to bring together this exceptional band of top European musicians. Naturally, due to their many professional engagements, the musicians in this quintet come together only occasionally. With these super professionals this has absolutely no negative effect on their music, but strengthens their enthusiasm for playing together on the rare occasions that are possible. Andy, Heinz and Bruno have known each other for many years through tours shared in Peter Herbolzheimers band, Rythm Combination & Brass, and just as many studio recordings and television appearances. Until now, however, they were seldom heard in small groups. The idea for creating this band was born in 1996. There was a small but very successful tour carried out in Austria that gave all those concerned a great deal of pleasure, and a spontaneous decision was made to continue with the band. In 1997 and 1998 a tour comprising fourteen concerts and three workshops was carried out. A number of individual concerts, some of which were recorded for radio, were extremely successful in the summer and autumn of 1997 and 1998. A CD appeared in March of 1998 through Mons Records. The arrangements and compositions are mostly by Heinz von Hermann. Some titles have already been played and recorded with Peter Herbolzheimer. Newly arranged standards have been added, and, naturally, there are contributions from other musicians. The repertoire is in the best jazz tradition, and the range of styles is from "Rhythm & Blues" to "Bop" and "Latin music." Andy Haderer not only plays trumpet and flugel horn, but also culohorn and bass trumpet. Heinz von Hermann plays tenor, soprano and baritone saxophones, flute, altoflute and bamboo flute. Due to the many combinations possible, this band has an unusually wide diversity of sounds available. Together with the exceptionally high level of the music, this quintet is compelling because one senses their joy in playing together, and the humor of the individual musicians. All of previous concerts have been a complete success and can be looked back on with great plaeasure by the producer, public, musical colleagues, and, naturally, the band itself. Heinz von Hermann has played for decades - and is still playing - as a saxophone and flute soloist for almost all international jazz and show business stars.
